Dr. Maria Stephan is one the foremost scholars of civil resistance in the U.S. and globally. She is leading a project at the U.S. Institute for Peace in Washington, D.C., where she investigates the connections between civil resistance and peacebuilding. This lecture will explore the nexus of nonviolent action and peacebuilding, highlighting a new USIP practitioner guide animating the synergies, and offer lessons for contemporary organizing and movement-building.
