Decade after decade, semester after semester, Manchester presents a variety of engaging speakers and inspired performances that broaden students’ horizons.
We still have the Opening Convocation and Spring Convocation, but these days those convos are part of the Values, Ideas and the Arts Series, known to students as VIAs, and almost all are at Cordier Auditorium.
Professors are still talking about their sabbatical topics, those who are working to make a better world are still taking the stage, and we’re still bringing in authors and artistic performers.
Last year, Manchester brought back the protected time many of you remember. It’s 11 a.m. on Mondays.
We’re also intentionally incorporating some of the VIA subject matter in experience courses that meet students where they are, and this allows the discussion to continue long after the lights are out in Cordier.
The Fall 2022 VIA lineup includes a student-led forum on improving food security on campus and National Book Award Finalist Kali Fajardo-Anstine, who writes about Latina women of indigenous descent. Topics include the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Church of the Brethren tradition at Manchester. Learn more.
