Manchester University’s Homecoming 2022 is Oct. 22 at the North Manchester campus. The theme for this year’s event is “Black & Gold, Forever Bold.”

After two years of largely virtual Homecomings, 2022 will be bolder than ever. While the official event for alumni is on the 22nd, there will be activities for current students throughout the week leading up to the kickoff.

Among the many Homecoming events is the dedication of the Manchester Chime being built on the Manchester University Mall over the summer, which will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. The structure will house Manchester’s historic Chime, formerly in the Administration Building.

Other Saturday events open to the Manchester community will include:

  • Reunions for classes of 2017, 2012, 2007, 2002, 1997, 1992, 1987, 1982, 1977 and special 50th class reunion for 1972
  • Alumni Honor Awards Breakfast at 9 a.m. in the upper Jo Young Switzer Center
  • Building tours (including Funderburg Library, Otho Winger Hall and the PERC) from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Football game vs. Bluffton at 1:30 p.m.
  • Peace Studies plaque dedication at 2 p.m. in the Gladdys Muir Peace Garden
  • Environmental Studies 50th Anniversary at 3:30 p.m. at the Environmental Studies Cabin
  • Alumni of Color Reunion at 4 p.m. in the Jean Childs Young Intercultural Center
  • 50th Class Reunion Dinner at 5 p.m. in the upper Jo Young Switzer Center

An announcement will be made at the football game about Manchester’s bold future.

A complete schedule will be released closer to Homecoming. Watch for emails and the fall newsletter for more details.

There will be food trucks as lunch options from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Children are welcome to join in the fun at the Kid Zone behind the Physical Education and Recreation Center (PERC).

In the week leading up to Homecoming, activities for students will include traditions like Spirit Week dress-up days and a bonfire, as well as a career fair hosted by Career and Professional Development. A residence hall banner contest will take place the week prior.
