Humphries earns doctorate from Boston University

Posted Nov. 16 - Scott Humphries, assistant professor of music, has earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music education from Boston University. Scott is also director of instrumental studies and music education and is conductor of the Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Manchester University Bands.

His dissertation is titled Serious About Leisure: A Case Study of a Large Midwest Community Band.  Dr. Humphries’ field of study includes community and lifelong music-making.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University.
