A Cappella Choir to join Sept. 14 service

of Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren

The A Cappella Choir of Manchester College – with performances at Carnegie Hall and in the cathedrals of Italy – will join the Sunday, Sept. 14 worship service of Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren. The public is invited to the 10:30 a.m. service at the church, 24955 County Road 24 in Elkhart.

The congregation is hosting the 55-member choir’s annual organizational retreat, said Choir Director Debra Lynn, associate professor of music at the Church of the Brethren college. Students will stay with members of the congregation and gather at Pastor Beth Sollenberger-Morphew’s home for a cookout.

“Our relationship with Pastor Beth and the Elkhart congregation is really special,” said Lynn.  “We feel very at home and relaxed there. The students build relationships with congregation members who they see each year when we return, and that is a great treasure. It combines service, community building, worship, music, education and great food.”
