Jazz Ensemble and Cantabile
to share Friday, Nov. 7 concert
Enjoy a fall evening of jazz this Friday, Nov. 7, as Manchester College students present “Beginning to See the Light” featuring the Jazz Ensemble and Cantabile. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Wine Recital Hall. Admission is $3; reservations are not necessary.
The audience will hear standard jazz works by the Jazz Ensemble and treble choir works by Cantabile. The Jazz Ensemble performs in the big band tradition, but embraces any style that expands its horizons, from Dixieland to funk, notes director Tim Reed, assistant professor of music.
Cantabile is an auditioned women’s chorus that performs music of all eras composed especially for treble voices. Their conductor is Debra Lynn, associate professor of music.
