Sundaes in the Park with Jazz!

comes to Warvel Park Sunday, April 26

Jazz joins the annual Sundaes in the Park party for the community on Sunday, April 26. Manchester College’s traditional ensemble of ice cream and music begins at 2 p.m. in Warvel Park.

It’s all free; no reservations necessary. Guests may want to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Chartwells, the College’s food service, will dish out ice cream sundaes.

The concert begins with jazz combo performances featuring members of the Manchester College Jazz Ensemble in instrumental vocal and instrumental jazz standards, said director Tim Reed, assistant professor of music.

Next up is the full College Jazz Ensemble with a selection of big band pieces ranging from such standards as Duke Ellington’s Don’t Get Around Much Anymore and Louis Prima’s Sing Sing Sing to more modern tunes, such as Herbie Hancock’s Cantaloupe Island and Miles Davis’s Solar.

Dare it rain, the concert will move into the Scout Hall.
