Enrollment, marketing strategist joins
Manchester University leadership
A marketing leader lauded for his successes with integrating university enrollment, branding, marketing and communication strategies will become the newest member of Manchester University’s leadership team. Scott D. Ochander, the chief marketing officer for Valparaiso University, joins Manchester on April 15 as vice president for enrollment and marketing, announced President Jo Young Switzer.
“We welcome the expertise and experience that Scott Ochander will bring to Manchester. He has been successful in diverse sectors, and we look forward to his energy and insights,” said Switzer. Ochander succeeds Dave McFadden, who continues as MU executive vice president and dean of the MU College of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, Ind.
At Valparaiso, Ochander developed the key marketing and brand strategies for enrollment and reputation growth, which yielded two of the largest and most diverse freshman classes in University history.
“I see many opportunities to integrate marketing and enrollment more closely for greater effect at Manchester,” Ochander said. "The University stands at a great moment for growth and innovation and I look forward to being part of the community."
In addition to Valparaiso University, Ochander has held leadership roles at NewEdge + The Brewery, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and The Dow Chemical Company. Ochander earned an MBA from Central Michigan University and bachelor’s degrees in business administration and music from Western Michigan University.
In recent years, Ochander has made marketing presentations for the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) and other professional organizations. In 2011, he received six MarCom platinum and gold awards in international competition for marketing and communication professionals for his work at Valparaiso.
