The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities has named William "Bill" P. Robinson the 2015 recipient of the Senator Mark O. Hatfield Leadership Award, “the CCCU’s highest recognition extended to an individual who exemplifies Christian leadership and integrity in service to others.”
President of Manchester University from 1986 to 1993, he joins such past recipients as Billy Graham, Carl F. H. Henry, Chuck Colson, Benjamin Carson, Tony Hall, Rick and Kay Warren, John Perkins, N.T. Wright and Tim Walberg, for modeling “Christian engagement in their respective leadership roles,” according to a release from the organization.
For a year, beginning in October 2013, Robinson served as the CCCU’s interim president. He is currently president emeritus at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash., and chair of the board of trustees at Princeton Theological Seminary.
