Preparing for the coming year—and beyond

For faculty, the summer is a time of preparation. Our new faculty members, Jenny Simmers ’94 and Joe Messer, are settling into their offices and are working hard to prepare for the many new courses they will soon be teaching. Returning faculty are attending professional conferences, reading the articles and books they could not get to during the school year, developing new courses, and updating old ones. We are also preparing for a comprehensive review of our program. While we are always updating course content, tinkering with specific classes required in the majors, and testing new teaching methods that we think might be beneficial to the students, it has been several years since we thoroughly evaluated the entire program. So we decided at the end of the spring semester that we would tackle that project this fall, and we need your help.

We want to be sure that we are doing all we can to best prepare our students for their careers and for their lives after college. We have anecdotal evidence indicating that our graduates are well prepared, but we have not systematically gathered this kind of information from the people who know best whether our students leave Manchester with the tools required to succeed. We need to hear from you—the employers and alumni—what we’re doing well and what we can do to improve.

Below is a link to a survey that will take approximately 7-16 minutes to complete, depending upon whether you are an employer, an MC graduate, or both. You do not have to answer any question that you are not comfortable answering or for which you have insufficient information. Results of the survey will only be made public in the aggregate.

For alumni, assisting the Department of Accounting and Business in strengthening its program will help protect the integrity of the degree you earned, and for employers, doing so will help ensure that your future hires from Manchester will be well prepared. Please provide your candid feedback by clicking here. Thank you.
