Faculty, Staff Beat Students in Softball Game

On Friday, May 7, faculty and staff took the win for the May Day students vs faculty/staff softball game! Around 17 Manchester students and 15 faculty/staff members came together to make the event a reality.
Manchester sophomore Ben Miles was an announcer at the game, and said that the event went really well. “The faculty pulled out on top 16-11, but everyone still had fun,” he said.
He also explained that the theme for the event was “Going Grey in May,” in support of Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
Dylan Nicely, a Manchester first year, took part in the softball game himself. He was surprised that his team of students got beat so badly by the professors/staff members. “It was really shocking to see the faculty and staff members still be able to play at such a good level,” he said “Of course we had a blast, although the outcome wasn’t in our favor. But there is always next year!”
Nicely added that the best part of the event was probably the professors’ “trash talk,” which made the game more “competitive,” as he put it, “but also really fun.”
There were a number of other events offered on campus for May Day weekend. After the noon softball game, Manchester Activities Council held the annual Trike Race at 3 p.m., which was followed by the annual Nearly Naked Mile at 5 p.m., and Air Band at 8 p.m. And these were only the events that took place on Friday.
Manchester sophomore Myah Krintz explained how much she enjoyed her weekend on campus. “It was a lot of fun, especially with all of the finals stress everyone has right now,” she said. “I had such a good time, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it again next year.”
