Dinner is served Sunday dinner at MU is now being served.
Recently, Chartwells Higher Education, the dining service provider for Manchester University, invited students to voice their opinions regarding the quality of food service and suggest improvements.
“One of the suggestions from students was the serving of Sunday dinners,” says Elizabeth Boettner, a senior environmental studies major. MU dining previously took a break on Sundays. Chartwells conducted focus groups in the spring and it was “the combined efforts of students and Chartwells that made this happen,” recalls Elizabeth.
The change has been very welcomed.
Haist Commons now bustles from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. when students gather to wind down their weekend with hot and nutritious meals. A recent Sunday menu featured braised beef tips with gravy on noodles, ham and mozzarella wraps, salmon burgers, pizza, pasta, mashed potatoes, and the usual complement of hot vegetables, crisp salads and sweet desserts.

The Jean Childs Young Intercultural Center
Here we grow again
Manchester University has always been committed to giving students the best environment in which to learn and grow. To that end, MU President Dave McFadden has announced three major new building projects: The Jean Childs Young Intercultural Center, for which groundbreaking began in December; the Chinworth Center, for which ground will be broken in May; and a new all-weather football stadium/track-and-field complex, which will go in north of Carl Burt Stadium. The Intercultural Center will be located at the corner of College Avenue and East Street, and the Chinworth Center will be built just north of the Jo Young Switzer Center. The latter will add about 36,000 square feet for student learning and services, and include the College of Business, a one-stop shop for registrar and student financial services, the study abroad and honors programs, offices for student activities and experiential learning, and a commuter lounge and coffee bar.
