The Manchester football team has had a rough start to the year for both Varsity and JV, with a 0-4 and 1-2 record, respectively. With a last-week win for the JV 19-16 against Adrian.

Although they haven’t had the best turn out so far this season, they are getting some players back using this week off to recover and get ready. Trevor O’Brien, a first year quarterback returns after a hip injury; he’s getting back to full go.

The Spartans look to be a strong throwing team, as the top three receivers average above 20 yards, the top receiver Harrison Greer has two touchdowns, 173 yards, and his longest catch is 56 yards.

The starting quarterback is usually switched around a bit, but the following quarterbacks have started: Dylan Silverman, Bryce Tomasi, Zach Montegomery, Eric James, Carter Campassi, Trevor O’Brien and Tyler Zimmerman. Campassi is usually the one to start: he has 72 yards passing, two touchdowns, and his longest throw was 36 yards.

This week when the Manchester Spartans battle the Franklin Grizzles, O’Brien will return to the starting spot. In total this season so far after playing four games the Spartans have 144.3 passing yards, 106.0 rushing yards, average 14 points a game, with 250.3 total yards. With seven games left to go in the season they have four conference games left, which are Anderson, Hanover, Defiance and Franklin. for our Spartans.

This weekend the Manchester Spartans will battle the Franklin Grizzles at Franklin on Oct. 2 at 1:30.
