Manchester offers 2018 summer camps for kids, scrapbooking retreat
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester University offers summer camps for young people who want to have fun while learning. There are youth cooking, robotics and LEGO day camps this year. MU is also bringing back the popular scrapbooking retreat for all ages.
Camps will be on the North Manchester campus in June and July, offering hands-on experiences and expert instruction.
LEGO Robotics Camp
When: June 11-15, 9 a.m.-noon
What: Build, program and test robots that use motors and sensors using LEGO products. Brainstorm to find creative solutions, and compete with your robot against others to win prizes.
Cost: $150 (includes T-shirt)
Who: Grades 6-8
Register by June 5
LEGO Camp
When: June 25-29, 8 -11 a.m.
What: Interactive, fun way to learn basic engineering principles, science, math and problem solving, using LEGO kits to create custom motorized machines.
Cost: $79 (includes T-shirt)
Who: Grades 1-6
Global Cuisine
When: July 9-11, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
What: Campers will cook alongside nationally recognized Chef Chris Fogerty, exploring cuisines from around the world, including Asian, African, Mediterranean and Central American.
Cost: $135, register by July 2. Registration includes snacks and lunch.
Who: Ages 9-14

Scrapbooking Retreat
When: June 1-3
What: Take your scrapbooking to the next level at Manchester University’s 12th Annual Scrapbooking Retreat, with meals prepared by a national award-winning executive chef. Each participant will have a dedicated 6-foot table and adjustable office chair to spread out all weekend and not pack up until you leave. Free wireless Internet access in the crafting room and your guest room.
Cost: $170 for weekend retreat, $105 commuter retreats, with discounts for returning scrapbookers, crafters and MU employees and alumni. Register by May 25.
