Finnell, Loren: AutobiographyMC2011/200 

Recipient of the Sargent Shriver Award by the National Peace Corps Association, and an honorary doctorate from Manchester College, Loren Finnell is a member of the Manchester College Class of 1964.

He composed a draft of a autobiography entitled, "Still a County Boy.....After having been around the world a couple of times, The memoirs of Loren Finnell." In this manuscript Loren relates his experience at Manchester College, including a clandestine trip to Washington, D.C. for a "Ban the Bomb" demonstration.

 
Graduation 1973: Commencement Address - Miller, Irwin and Alumni Awards MC2010/184 

Wabash Plain Dealer article, 21 May 1973, "Success Slump, Tells Graduates."  Dr. J. Irwin Miller was the commencement speaker for the 1973 Commencement.  This article recaps Miller's address and also reports on a silent student protest.

On 13 May 1969, a mass marriage ceremony and tent-in took place on the Manchester College campus.  The purpose was to initiate a "change in attitude...tak[ing] the form of students assuming freedom and responsibility in determining the direction of their lives."

Violence: Lemberg CenterMC2002/186 

The Lemberg Center for the Study of Violence contains information on the race riots of the 1960s and originated at Brandeis University outside of Boston.  The archive was transferred to Manchester College on permanent loan in 1979, and was housed there until 1997, when it was transferred to the University of Notre Dame.
