The Campus Store at Manchester University is getting a complete overhaul under new management at the end of July, and that means clearing out the inventory.

MU Wayfair donation 8This provided an opportunity for service, and Campus Store Manager Heather Gochenaur and her student workers packaged up more than 20 boxes of books and loaded them into a pickup truck bound for Waypoint Wabash, which provides a safe, structured and stable environment for women recovering from substance use disorder.

The books – which include fiction and nonfiction, self-help and religious selections – were loaded in the truck driven by University Set-ups Supervisor Scott Eberly and then hand-delivered by Manchester employees to the Wabash nonprofit on Monday, July 10.

MU Wayfair donation 2“The Campus Store needs to move inventory quickly before July 25, when University Gear Shop takes over,” said Alexis Young, assistant vice president for facilities and auxiliary services at Manchester. “It just made sense for Manchester to donate the books as part of our mission to improve the human condition.”

To clear the decks before the change, the store will offer deep discounts through Monday, July 24. It is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until 4:30 p.m. Fridays in the lower level of the Jo Young Switzer Center on East Street in North Manchester.

Beginning this fall semester, Manchester will partner with University Gear Shop to manage the Campus Store. This new partnership will bring a new online store, a facelift for the space in Switzer and added pop-up stores at campus events. UGS is also a partner with eCampus for textbooks at MU.
