Gold Rush Homecoming 2017 at Manchester University is Oct. 13-14 and offers dozens of activities.
Here are a few highlights:

The Alumni Association is honoring 1978 graduate Tim McElwee with the Alumni Honor Award, the highest recognition it can bestow upon a graduate.
Now senior vice president for the foundation of Parkview Health, the Fort Wayne, Ind., resident served as Manchester campus pastor from 1983-87, director of development from 1996-98 and vice president for advancement from 1999-2003 and 2013-15.
A member of the Church of the Brethren, he also served as Plowshares associate professor of peace studies and political science from 2003-08 and was vice president for academic resources prior to joining Parkview. Previously in his career, McElwee worked in advancement roles with Heifer International and Albright College.
Madalyn Metzger, a member of the class of 1999, will receive the Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award. Vice president of marketing for Everence Financial, she has emerged as a leader and creative force for the company.
Named one of Michiana’s 40 Under 40, the Bristol, Ind., resident been active in the Church of the Brethren and is serving her first term on MU’s Board of Trustees. She has been involved with On Earth Peace and the New Community Project, organizations advancing the causes of justice and peace.
