Chime at Manchester to toll on MLK 50 anniversary


MLK50-180pxManchester University is among churches and campuses across the nation and around the world marking the solemn 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s death with the MLK 50 Bell Toll.

A brief commemoration begins at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Petersime Chapel and ends at 7:05  p.m. with the Manchester Chime tolling 39 times to honor the number of years Dr. King dwelled on this Earth.

It is free and open to the public.

The ceremony is part of the MLK 50 Bell Toll organized by the National Civil Rights Museum.
