Admission Requirements

Competitive and Selective

Admission to the MU DPT Program is competitive and selective. Qualifying candidates will be invited for an interview on campus on DPT Interview Day and offered admission to the program. Applicants must meet all criteria to be eligible to apply to the program.

Undergraduate Degree

All applicants must successfully complete a four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant stream of studies, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, before seeking admission to Manchester University's DPT Program.

Prerequisite Courses

All applicants must complete the following prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of C (70%) prior to seeking admission to the DPT Program.

  • 2 Biology courses with labs, excluding botany and zoology
  • 2 General Chemistry courses with labs
  • 2 General Physics courses with lab
  • 1 Human Anatomy course with lab
  • 1 Human Physiology course with lab 
  • 1 Psychology course 
  • 1 Statistics course

GRE Exam

The MU DPT Program does not require applicants to complete the Graduate Record Exam.

Personal Statement

All applicants submit a personal statement of purpose describing their professional and personal aspirations. Additionally, each also submits the value they hope to add to the program and profession. The statement will be evaluated based on structure, grammar and intent. 

References

All applicants must submit three letters of recommendation in support of their application: two from previous professors and one from a licensed physical therapist.

Interviews

All eligible applicants will be interviewed as part of the application process after submitting a completed application.

English Proficiency

All applicants who speak English as a second language or have completed their degree/prerequisite courses in an international location, must demonstrate their English language proficiency by completing the Test of English as a Foreign Language or the International English Language Testing System.

Criminal Background Check

All applicants undergo a criminal background check as part of the admissions process and on an annual basis after acceptance into the program.

Proof of Health Insurance

All applicants must provide proof of health insurance at the time of application and annually as students for each year they are enrolled in the program.
