2022 Graduate and Professional Graduation Information

2016 Commencement

Professional and Graduate Commencement, Saturday, May 21, North Manchester

On Saturday morning, our graduating class, their families and friends, along with faculty and staff, will make the journey to North Manchester to complete graduation week. Professional and Graduate Commencement Exercises in Cordier Auditorium will be recognizing the graduates in pharmacy, pharmacogenomics and athletic training.

To prepare for the Commencement processional, graduates must report to Cordier Auditorium at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Students will be responsible to bring all of their graduation regalia, including their hood and all honors and organization cords that they received the day prior at Hooding. Students will meet with members of the faculty and Office of Academic and Student Affairs where they will be given further instructions for the ceremony. 

Commencement Ceremony, 9 a.m.

During the Commencement ceremony, men remove caps only during the invocation, the singing of the University song, and the benediction. Women may keep their caps on through the service or remove them during the invocation, University song, and benediction.

Groups will come to the platform to receive the diploma in the following order:

A. Master of Athletic Training Candidates

  1. Candidates will rise when the reader says, “Will the candidates for the degree Master of Athletic Training please rise?” MAT candidates will all rise.
  2. MAT candidates will come to the platform steps when the reader says, "Will the candidates for this degree please come to the platform?" The usher will help cue the row when to stand and line up. 

B. Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics Candidates

  1. Candidates will rise when the reader says, “Will the candidates for the degree Master of Science - Pharmacogenomics please rise?” PGx candidates will all rise.
  2. PGx candidates will come to the platform steps when the reader says, "Will the candidates for this degree please come to the platform?" The usher will help cue the row when to stand and line up.

C. Doctor of Pharmacy Candidates

  1. Candidates will rise when the reader says, "Will the candidates for the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy please rise?" All Pharm.D. candidates will rise.
  2. Pharm.D. candidates will come to the platform row by row. All Pharm.D. candidates seated will walk to the podium steps when the reader says, "Will the candidates for this degree please come to the platform?" The usher will help cue the row when to stand and line up.

All Candidates Please Note:

A. The first candidate to receive a degree should be standing on the top step (the stage) before his or her name is read and should move forward only if the name read is hers or his. That way, the reader knows to add “in absentia” after the name if no one moves forward. If the candidate is not on the top step. Remember, the first candidate should be standing on the top step (the stage) when the first name is read. As soon as that candidate moves forward, the next candidate should take his or her place at the edge of the stage and others behind move up one step.
