Program Highlights

  • Manchester’s campus abounds with gallery and display spaces, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to show your work.
  • If your future is teaching art, you’ll major in all-grade education with a concentration in the visual arts, which includes a combined curriculum of education and art classes and classroom teaching experiences each semester. Graduates successfully complete licensure programs to work with students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • You’ll have opportunities for internships, both local and abroad, and you’ll also learn by talking with visiting artists and other art professionals to better understand art careers and how your art fits into the world.
  • The Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture gives Manchester students experience in an urban setting, working and learning in Chicago for a semester. Open to students in all majors, the opportunity is well-utilized by art students.

Why Manchester?

Manchester’s art program is flexible, letting you choose electives to fully customize your major to align with your career path. And in Manchester’s liberal arts curriculum, you can integrate art with another area of interest to create a specialty in your chosen field. For example:

  • Major in Art and minor in Business Management to open your own graphic design business.
  • Major in Art and minor in Psychology to prepare for graduate study in art therapy.
  • Double major in Art and History to enter the field of Museum Studies.

Whatever your career path, you’ll grow your talents and develop close relationships with your fellow art majors and faculty who encourage and support you and will become your mentors. At Manchester, you’ll find all the opportunities you need to succeed, coupled with close, personal attention that you won’t find at a bigger college.
