Manchester University invites community to pop-up food pantry

Nov 18, 2025

Manchester University will host a Community Food Pantry on Friday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Activities Center, located on the first floor of the Chinworth Center.

During the annual U Can Crush Hunger food drive event—a friendly competition between area colleges and universities—Manchester collected over 1,500 pounds of food. Before a portion of the donations are delivered to a partnering facility in Wabash, Ind., MU is inviting the community to campus to take what they need.

Large quantities of canned fruits, vegetables and soup will be available, as well as other miscellaneous items.

“Service is at the heart of the Manchester experience,” said Tish Kalita, director of career and professional development at Manchester. “This pantry is one small way we can give back to the community that supports our students every day. We want our neighbors to know they are welcome here, and that we’re committed to helping meet these essential needs.”

MU placed fifth overall in the U Can Crush Hunger challenge, and more than 137,000 pounds were donated collectively. The event is hosted by Community Harvest Food Bank each fall.
