Duchane, Arseneau and two alumnae win state honors

Posted Sept. 12 -  Kim Duchane, professor of exercise science and athletic training, has won the Legacy Award from the Indiana Society for Health and Physical Educators (INSHAPE). On Manchester’s faculty since 1992, Duchane will be honored at the INSHAPE conference in Indianapolis in November. Duchane earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University, his master’s degree from Sam Houston State University and his Ph.D. from Texas Women’s University.

At the same event, MU student Casey Arseneau will receive INSHAPE’s Outstanding Student Award, which goes to an undergraduate who has displayed distinctive leadership and meritorious service to the profession of health, physical education, recreation, dance and/or allied areas.

In addition, two MU alumnae will be receive Teacher of the Year honors and advance to the Midwest district competition, which leads to the national contest. Melanie DeGrandchamp ’11 Busch, a health and physical education teacher at Fort Wayne North Side High School, is the 2019 Indiana Health Education Teacher of the Year. Kalie Carlisle ’10 McKinley, physical education teacher at Assumption High School in Louisville, Ky., is the 2019 Indiana Dance Education Teacher of the Year.
