What is Manchester Together?
The Lilly Endowment Inc. created the College Community Collaboration (CCC) to encourage Universities and their surrounding communities to work together on transformative projects to strengthen the quality of place within the community, and to strengthen the Universityโs ability to attract and retain students, faculty and staff. Lilly has provided millions of dollars in resources to college towns and university communities that have compelling ideas and a plan to build a stronger future.

In 2024, Manchester University was awarded a $12.1 million planning grant by the Lilly Endowment Inc. to engage in efforts to develop a plan for a catalytic project that will make North Manchester an even more vibrant place in which to live, learn, work, and play.

Eel River Commonsย
Eel River Commons will transformย the downtown riverfront into a cultural and recreational hub with a performance space, walking paths, public art, and better access.ย A new pedestrian bridge and parking are planned to bring more people downtown, supporting local businesses.ย
Manchester Mileย
A transformative trail, called the Manchester Mile, will linkย MUย to downtown North Manchester, providing a safe route between campus and Main Street.ย
Cultural facilitiesย
Updates to older campus facilities are a necessity.ย Construction on Winger Hall will beginย inย Spring 2026.ย Enhancements to Cordier Auditorium have already begun, including a new stage curtain installed in December 2024.ย
