Sabrina Brown

Assistant Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies

Dr. Sabrina Brown has been at Manchester since: 2024 Education: Indiana State University, 2014 (B.S. in Earth & Environmental Sciences and Science Education), Indiana State University, 2016 (M.S. in Earth & Quaternary Sciences), University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2019 (Ph.D. in Earth & Atmospheric Sciences) Graduate research area: Diatom-inferred records of paleolimnological variability and continental hydrothermal activity in Yellowstone National Park, USA (Ph.D. Dissertation), Multi-proxy Holocene fire history reconstruction in the Beartooth Mountains, Wyoming (M.S. Thesis). Courses taught: Introduction to Environmental Studies, Interpretation of Natural History, Geographic Information Systems Applications, Environmental Science, Principles of Biology I, Ecology, Limnology, Conservation Biology, Invertebrate Zoology Current Research Interests: My research focuses on reconstructing disturbance ecology and climate using paleolimnology. While I specialize in using fossil diatom assemblages to reconstruct past lake environments, I have an interest in several paleoecological proxies. I am also interested in modern water quality monitoring efforts. Memberships & Affiliations: Geological Society of America, National Association of Geoscience Teachers, Indiana Academy of Science, Lake Erie & Aquatic Research Network, International Association of Great Lakes Research
