Suad Gumus

Director of Teacher Education, Professor of Education

Dr. Suad Gumus earned her B.S. degree in Education with specializations in Elementary Education and Literature from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Turkey in 1995 and completed her Special Education endorsement in 1997. She earned her M.S. degree in Special Education from Indiana University Bloomington in 2002. In 2008, Dr. Gumus completed her Ph.D. at Indiana University with concentrations in Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention, and High-Incidence Disabilities. She later earned a Graduate Certificate in Reading Education from Appalachian State University in 2017.

Having taught at the elementary and secondary levels in public schools in Turkey and the US, she also taught at public and private universities in both countries. Dr. Gumus joined Manchester University on January 2, 2024, as an Associate Professor and Director of Teacher Education, and within her first two years at Manchester, she earned tenure for the third time in her career and was promoted to Full Professor.

Dr. Gumus enjoys traveling internationally, presenting her research and publications at academic conferences, and spending time gardening and cooking with produce she grows for her family and friends.
