Pursuing his Passion for Sports
You don’t have to be a professional athlete to make your career in sports. Just ask Nick Rush, who found exactly what he was looking for at Manchester. “I majored in sport management because I can never really see myself outside of sports,” Nick says. His second major in marketing will round out his skill set and prepare him to work in the industry he loves.
A three-sport athlete in high school, Nick continued his athletic career with MU’s baseball team and led this year in RBIs and slugging percentage. He aspires to work in an off-the-field role such as administration or marketing for a professional sports league such as Major League Baseball.

Preparation for success
Nick is getting plenty of practical experience at MU. He coordinated social media for the NCAA DIII Midwest Regional Wrestling Championships and organized Manchester Madness, an annual event that rallies Spartan fans to kick off the basketball season. “I think that’s the most hands-on you can get,” he says. “We went behind the scenes and took all of class time to plan it. Then we went and actually did it on the night of the event.”
Eventually, Nick can turn his athletic instincts into career success. “I’ve always been a competitive guy whether it’s on the field or just life in general.”
