MU athletic training director named President-Elect of Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association
Dr. Lucas Dargo to Lead IATA, Reinforcing Manchester’s Strength in Athletic Training Education
Manchester University’s Dr. Lucas Dargo has been named President-Elect of the Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association (IATA). His term begins in March 2026 and will continue through March 2028, after which he will serve as President. This leadership role places Manchester University at the forefront of athletic training advocacy, professional development, and student engagement across Indiana.
Dr. Dargo’s vision for the IATA
In 2025, Dargo received the IATA’s Joe A. Harvey Distinguished Service Award. This award is given each year to an individual who has made special contributions to the field of sports medicine. Similarly, this award is also given to advocates of the athletic training profession. Dargo’s term as President-Elect will begin this March and extend through March 2028, at which point he will assume the role of President. Additionally, his goals for the IATA include four key priorities:
- Strengthening connections with students
- Enhancing engagement with current members
- Empowering volunteers and board engagement
- Increasing transparency and communication.
Master of Athletic Training (MAT): Preparing Future Athletic Trainers
Dr. Dargo is the director for Manchester University’s CAATE-accredited MAT program. Under Dr. Dargo, Manchester’s MAT program graduates students who are ready to make a meaningful impact in athletic training and health care. As a MAT student, you will become a collaborative, patient-centered health care professional and will be equipped to succeed in clinical, hospital, collegiate, and performance settings.
