NxtGen Program on Campus

Students hang out together on campus during the NxtGen Camp week at MU.

Manchester University's NxtGen Leadership Camp

Manchester University's NxtGen Leadership Camp will run from July 21st to the 26th. Each morning, campers will attend talks given by local professionals who have become successful because of their higher education. Each morning and afternoon, campers will attend leadership development training sessions, in which they will discover their strengths and receive training in building their strengths. Campers will also explore academic programs and engage with Manchester University faculty and students. They will attend a range of exhilarating exploratory academic sessions with faculty and MU students each day. Every evening, campers will engage in structured play and team-building activities.

Accommodations

Campers will stay on campus in Oakwood hall and eat their meals in Haist Commons.
The camp is hosted at no cost to the students, and a $250 per student camp attendance stipend is provided at the conclusion of camp to ease the financial burdens on students and their families.

Opening Doors to Higher Education

The NxtGen Program on Campus is a Lilly Endowment funded initiative designed to help Indiana colleges and universities in their efforts to create new or expand and enhance existing high-quality, on-campus programs for Hoosier youth, ages 5 – 18. The NxtGen Program on Campus aims to help address Indiana’s unacceptably low rankings in the percentage of its adult population with a bachelor’s degree or a meaningful postsecondary credential and to help increase the higher education enrollment and success of traditionally underserved students.

Goals of the NxtGen Program on Campus

The NxtGen Program on Campus aims to increase opportunities for Indiana youth to participate in learning experiences on college campuses that will expose those youth to Indiana’s higher education institutions while providing them with experiences that will help prepare them for success in college and later life and also aims to increase the numbers of Indiana youth who successfully attend Indiana colleges and universities and obtain valuable postsecondary degrees and credentials and thereby help strengthen the institutions and improve the education levels of Indiana residents.
