Taylor Gabler joined Manchester University in January of 2023. Prior to working at Manchester, she worked as a mental health counselor for a community mental health center. In this role, she provided individual, family and group counseling for concerns including but not limited to trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use. Taylor has always had a passion for working with university students and providing them with the support they need to meet their personal, professional, educational and athletic goals. While earning her master's degrees from Ball State University, she was a counseling intern at IUPUI and worked with teams and individual athletes at Ball State University. Through these experiences, she has developed an understanding of the unique concerns that university students and student-athletes experience.

 

In addition to counseling, Taylor is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and has helped teams and individual athletes learn the mental tools to help them maximize their performance potential. Taylor currently serves as the mental performance coach for a Paralympic team. Taylor takes an individualized approach to counseling and tailors each intervention to the person with whom she is working. Taylor uses a wide range of skills and interventions to support students as they navigate their concerns. Examples include mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy and solution-focused therapy.

Taylor is originally from Indiana and has spent most of her life here. Because of this, she loves all things winter. She also enjoys riding her bike on the various trails of Fort Wayne, watching sporting events, trying new restaurants and eating ice cream. She has a long-haired German shepherd named Taia. Together, they enjoy watching TV, eating popcorn and visiting the Dairy Queen drive-through.

Taylor received her bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and double majored in psychology and exercise science. While at GVSU, she was on the women’s basketball team. She also holds two master’s degrees from Ball State University in clinical mental health counseling and sport and exercise psychology.
