Credit Transfer Information
Naturally, you should be concerned that your hard-earned credits will allow you to transition smoothly into Manchester University. Manchester will work with you individually to make sure that your credits are reviewed thoroughly and that you understand the credit transfer process.
To be more helpful throughout the process, we’ve provided a list of classes and coursework that are commonly approved for transfer students into Manchester from other institutions. While this is not an exhaustive list of all transferable credits, remember that we will also work with you individually to make sure you get the best benefit. Please contact us with questions regarding a specific course(s).
Transfer credit evaluation is completed only after all official transcripts from other institutions have been submitted to Manchester. If only partial information is available, a tentative evaluation may be requested but cannot be considered official until all documents are received.

Students with AA/AS Degrees
Students who transfer to Manchester with a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree will be granted a block transfer of 60 credits and fulfillment of all general education requirements.
Transfer to MU without AA/AS Degrees
Students without a completed AA/AS degree with have their courses evaluated individually using the following guidelines:
- Credits were awarded by an accredited institution within the last 7 years
- Course is a 100 level or higher
- You received a grade of a C or higher
- Manchester offers a course equal to and/or fits our liberal arts curriculum (LARC)
- Classes to be applied to a major will need approval from academic department

Scholarships & Financial Aid
Manchester values the experiences of our transfer students. They bring different perspectives to learning and add value to our community. To show support of our incoming transfers, Manchester offers a variety of merit-based and Manchester-funded scholarships. Below are some of the scholarships for which you might be eligible:
- Merit/Academic Scholarships (based on previous experience from other colleges/universities/high school) – up to $24,000 per year
- Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship – up to $24,000 per year for students who are documented PTK members
- Connections Award – $1,000 for any student who has had a relative attend Manchester or for students who are members of the Church of the Brethren
- Visit Incentive – $500 per year award for students who complete a campus visit with Admissions
- Music Scholarships – up to $3,000
- Esports Scholarships – up to $6,000
- Manchester Grant – based on FAFSA information that evaluates financial need and academic performance
Ivy Tech Transfer Students
A Clear Path from Ivy Tech to Manchester University
When you complete an associate degree at Ivy Tech Community College with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, you are guaranteed admission to Manchester University.
This agreement qualifies you for:
- Guaranteed admission with any associate degree (AA, AS, AGS, or AFA) and a 2.5+ GPA
- Junior standing at Manchester University (minimum of 60 credits transferred)
- Broad opportunities across multiple disciplines including programs in science, health, education, arts, communication, business and more
- Eligibility for transfer scholarships and financial aid based on current Manchester policies.
Making the Transition to Manchester
Manchester University and Ivy Tech have partnered together to make your transfer as an IVY Tech student seamless. Now you can finish your bachelor’s degree in as few as two additional years of study. While scholarships are not guaranteed, most students do qualify for merit awards.

Steps to Enroll
Apply Online
To apply for admission to Manchester University as a transfer student, you can apply online using Manchester’s Application or via The Common Application. You also will need to submit your high school and college transcripts. Click here to view admission requirements.
A transfer candidate must have a cumulative transfer grade point average of a 2.0 (4.0 scale) to be eligible for admission. A transfer candidate who is ineligible to re-enroll at the last attended college will normally be considered ineligible to enter Manchester University for at least one semester.
Official Transcripts
Official, final transcripts from high school and all colleges you have attended must be sent to the Office of Admissions. GED scores are also accepted. If you have been out of school more than five years you still must submit transcripts, but work experience and other accomplishments will be given considerable weight. Please submit information about these experiences in writing.
