Biology-Chemistry - Pharmacist

Preparing for a Career as a Pharmacist

  • Course Work - Manchester's pharmacy program requires a minimum of chemistry (four semesters), biology (three courses), and math (two courses), humanities (two courses), and economics/business (one course). It is always wise to check on the specific requirements of schools to which you may eventually apply. Manchester's pre-pharmacy curriculum is designed to meet the admission requirements of most pharmacy schools.

  • Course Sequences
    Associate of Science in Pre-Pharmacy
    Biology-Chemistry Major from 2-Year Pre-Pharmacy
    Biology-Chemistry Major (Fast Forward) from 2-Year Pre-Pharmacy

  • Experiences - Most pharmacy schools look favorably upon experience that suggests you have familiarity with the occupation you are pursuing. This experience fits into two categories.
    • Basic research - Conducted on your home campus or at some other campus, research shows intellectual growth and problem-solving skills that may lack from ordinary coursework.
    • Health care-related experience - Job shadow a pharmacist or other health care professional, get a summer job in a pharmacy or other health care related environment, or participate in a meaningful volunteer experience.
