Program Opportunities

Students admitted to the University in Fall 2020 or after will not be able to complete a physics major. With the support of the College of Pharmacy, Natural and Heath Sciences, current students who wish to elect to complete a physics major after this deadline may appeal for special consideration.

Overview

The universe is your textbook in Manchester’s physics program, where our students are researching how stars are formed, our graduates are changing how the world does medicine in undeveloped countries, and our state-of-the-art facility is a science conversation and study hub. Whether you want to teach physics at the high school or college level, use your study as a springboard for other careers or dive deep into research at the nation’s top graduate programs, MU will prepare you for success.

Program Highlights

  • Physics students take field trips to Fermilab, national research conferences and the local ice cream shop – all in the name of science, of course.
  • The national Society of Physics Students of the American Institute of Physics has honored the MU club as a Distinguished Chapter.Faculty share their research with students in paid research internships. Some get to research how stars are formed, using information gathered from a NASA space telescope. Students get to present their research at national conferences.
