Manchester University partners with Questa, Parkview Health to support ABSN students
Manchester University is partnering with Parkview Health and Questa Education Foundation to provide financial support to students of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. The Questa Parkview ABSN Scholars program allows students to receive financial assistance throughout their enrollment in the form of a forgivable loan for two-thirds of their ABSN tuition. Funds will enable more students to achieve their ABSN degrees and start their careers at Parkview. Students receive 100% loan forgiveness when they graduate and work at Parkview for three years. Eligible students are invited to learn more and apply for Questa Parkview ABSN Scholar funding at www.questafoundation.org/parkview-absn-manchester-university. Additionally, after six months working as a benefit-eligible nurse at Parkview, ABSN graduates will be eligible to participate in Parkview’s Student Loan Payback Program. This program will cover the balance of any tuition expense the student paid to Manchester using a student loan. “Parkview is pleased to offer these resources to the future nurses graduating from Manchester University’s ABSN program. Manchester University partners with Gen.G for esports Practicum Abroad Program
Manchester University announced today it has partnered with global esports and gaming organization Gen.G to participate in the Gen.G Practicum Abroad program, which offers students the opportunity to take part in an intensive, three-week program to study in the heart of the esports industry in Seoul, South Korea. “We are incredibly excited to partner with such an amazing esports organization like Gen.G to provide our students here at Manchester with an amazing opportunity to travel to Seoul and learn the esports industry from the best in the business,” says Garrett Schieferstein, Director of Esports at Manchester University. “This travel abroad experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn more about esports on a global scale and experience South Korean esports/culture. Manchester University celebrates mascot Manny’s birthday
Manchester University invites students, staff and friends and families in the community to celebrate its mascot Manny’s 10th birthday on Wednesday, Oct. 15. In collaboration with the Wabash County Museum, pop-up haunted miniature golf will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Museum. The public is welcome to attend. Tickets are $2 per individual or $10 for a family, and free for MU students with MU ID. Nine holes are expected to take 45 to 60 minutes. Cupcakes will be provided, and food trucks will be available to purchase meals. The Wabash County Museum is located at 36 E. Market Street, Wabash, Ind. Manchester University Homecoming 2025 is Oct. 10-11
Celebrate Manchester University’s Homecoming 2025 on Friday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11 with events at the North Manchester campus. Reunions this year are for the classes of 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. Scheduled events on Saturday that are open to the public include: Donuts and Departments from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Spartan Stadium. Spartan Street Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Spartan Stadium. General luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Spartan Stadium. Lunch is $12. Alumni Authors Corner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Spartan Stadium. Kids Zone, including crafts and a bounce house, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Spartan Stadium. Football game versus Capital at 1:30 p.m. Kids are invited to run out with the team before kick-off at 1 p.m. Women’s soccer game versus Berea at 1 p.m. at Good Field. Manchester Symphony Orchestra salutes musical ‘Game Changers’ on Oct. 5
The Manchester Symphony Orchestra launches its 87th season on Oct. 5 with a celebration of daring musical game changers. “The concert features three composers who boldly reshaped the evolution of music. Jean-Phillipe Rameau, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Claude Debussy broke new musical ground as the most influential composers of their lifetimes,” said Debra Lynn, conductor and artistic director. “While their works are now perceived as classics, they were certainly controversial when they first debuted. Rameau pioneered music theory as we know it today, Beethoven bridged the Classical and Romantic eras by exploring new forms of musical expression, and Debussy broke tonal boundaries by introducing unfamiliar scales and modes,” Lynn said. The Manchester Symphony Orchestra brings you Rameau’s “Dardanus Suite,” Debussy’s “Petite Suite” and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7” at Manchester University’s Cordier Auditorium. MU recognizes Alumni Honor Award recipients and Athletics Hall of Fame inductees
Manchester University will recognize the annual Alumni Honor Award recipients and Athletics Hall of Fame inductees at a banquet on Friday, Oct. 10, kicking off Homecoming weekend. Three MU alumni will receive Alumni Honor Awards this year: Dr. Jeff Easley, Class of 1983; Connie Snyder Mick, Class of 1994; and Stacie Gayheart, Class of 1995, 1996 M.Acct. Easley practiced family medicine for 25 years and taught physician assistant studies for another 10 years at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, where he led students on short-term global health experience trips to Haiti. Mick is the senior associate director of Notre Dame’s Center for Social Concerns and the director of the poverty studies interdisciplinary minor. Her research has appeared in several academic journals, and she has published two textbooks with Oxford University Press. Gayheart is the Chief Financial Officer at Barnes and Thornburg, where she has worked for more than 25 years. As an executive and leader, she is known for her strategic vision, commitment to developing talent, and lasting impact on one of the nation’s largest law firms. Dr. Martin Garcia Chavez, Class of 2016, will receive a Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award. Manchester University names Matt Unger Staff Member of the Year
Matt Unger, director of performing arts technologies, has been named the 2025 Christopher W. Garber Staff Member of the Year at Manchester University. The award is named in honor of Chris Garber, who was Manchester’s assistant vice president for operations at the time of his death in 2015, and recognizes an employee who demonstrates steadfast commitment to Manchester University and is a leader and collaborator who keeps the best interests of the University at heart. Unger, a fifth-generation Manchester graduate, earned his degree in history in 2006. His wife, Lindsey; his parents, Becky and Denny Unger; his grandparents, Phyllis and Art Hunn; two sets of great-grandparents; and a pair of great-great-grandparents all attended Manchester.
