  • Smithson presents at two conferences, chairs panel

    Posted April 17 - Tara Smithson recently attended the Kentucky Foreign Languages Conference in April 11-14 in Lexington.  She chaired a panel on “Gender, Sex and Sexuality” and she presented a paper titled, “Elle se prend pour Jeanne d'Arc: Gender and Innocence in the Cases of Joan of Arc and Djamila Boupacha.”

    On May 9-12, Smithson will attend the International Medieval Congress in Kalamazoo, Mich., to present a paper titled “The Redhead and the Widow: Gender Models and Modifications in Joan of Arc's Two Trials.”

  • Gray Brown edits volume on nonviolence

    Posted April 12 - A volume edited and with an introduction by Katy Gray Brown, associate professor of philosophy and peace studies and director of the Peace Studies Institute, has been published by Brill Press.  "Nonviolence: Critiquing Assumptions, Examining Frameworks" is co-edited with fellow Manchester graduate and former visiting faculty member Michael Patterson Brown.  

     


  • Arseneau picked for Indiana health and physical educators scholarship

    Posted April 5 - The Indiana Society for Health and Physical Educators (INSHAPE) has selected a Manchester University student for the 2019 Jean Lee/Jeff Marvin Collegiate Scholarship. Casey Arseneau of Donovan, Ill., is one of just six students in the state to earn this honor. Learn more

  • McKenna-Buchanan, Calka participate in conference

    Posted March 27 - Tim McKenna-Buchanan, assistant professor of communication studies, will attend the Central States Communication Association April 3-6 in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked closely with the Undergraduate Research Conference and will respond to Top Papers in the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity caucus, as the immediate past-chair of the caucus. Michelle Calka, associate professor of communication studies, will respond to a panel on “Feminism and Activism through the Media.”

     

  • Robison successfully defends her dissertation

    Posted March 25 - Jennifer Robison, visiting assistant professor of biology, successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation on March 15.  Her dissertation is titled, “The Molecular and Physiological Responses of Soybean (Glycine max) to Cold and the Stress Hormone Ethylene.”

     

     

  • Rizvi to receive Indiana pharmacists scholarship

    Posted March 21 - Fourth-year pharmacy student Erum Rizvi has been selected to receive a Joseph McSoley Scholarship by the Indiana Pharmacists Association. She will receive the award April 12 at the 2019 Indiana Pharmacists Convention in Noblesville. Learn more.


     

  • Lahman, McKenna-Buchanan spread the word about listening

    Posted March 18 - Mary Lahman, professor of communication studies, is presenting at the International Listening Association in Vancouver, Canada, during spring break. She is chair of the Education Committee and is part of a "Listening Swap Shop" workshop. The title of her activity is called, "Listening: More a Function of Habit Than Conscious Choice."

    She and Tim McKenna-Buchanan, assistant professor of communication studies, presented, "The Importance of [Teaching] Listening in the College Classroom," at the Fort Wayne Teaching Conference in February.

     

     

  • Manchester faculty participate in APA meeting in Seattle

    Posted March 15 - A group from Manchester participated in a roundtable forum in March at the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting in Seattle. They are Sarah Gordon, assistant professor of pharmacy practice; Marwa Noureldin, assistant professor of pharmaceutical science; Renee McCafferty, associate professor of pharmacy practice; Jennifer Henriksen, associate dean of academic affairs and assessment; Rachel Kasper, assistant professor of pharmacy practice; and Melissa Rasmussen, director of instructional design for pharmacy. At the same meeting, Noureldin presented a poster on older adults’ health care decision-making preferences and relationship with medication management.
