  • Three seniors and Martynowicz present at conference

    Posted April 16 - Three MU seniors, Mo Rammel, Ashleigh Ridenour and Amber Willwerth, along with Mike Martynowicz, assistant professor of education, presented “The Impact of a Motivational Manipulation on Students’ Learning Strategies and Satisfaction” at the 90th annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago on April 13.

    Posted April 10 - Routledge has published Anarchism: A Conceptual Approach, a book co-edited by Leonard Williams, dean of the College of Education and Social Sciences and a political science professor. Williams also contributed a chapter titled “Reform.”  He recently was invited to serve on the editorial board of the journal PS: Political Science and Politics.

     

  • P3 John Palaika receives McSoley Scholarship

    Posted April 6 - P3 student John Palaika was selected by the Board of Directors of the Pharmacy Education Foundation (PEF) as Manchester’s recipient of the 2018 Joseph E. McSoley Scholarship. The mission of the PEF is to support the Indiana Pharmacists Alliance by soliciting philanthropic contributions to support scholarships, grants and other foundation programs. McSoley Scholarship recipients are pharmacy students who demonstrate qualities of a strong leader.

    Posted March 15 - Tracy Brooks, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, has been honored by the Northeast Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair for her support and dedication to the next generation of scientists. She is winner of the “Outstanding Science Teacher: Senior Division award.

  • Naragon to do research in Germany for 2018-19

    Posted March 9 - Professor Steve Naragon, chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, has been awarded a scholarship, “Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists, 2018,” from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service) to support his research in Germany during fall semester 2018.

    The following spring semester, his work will be funded by the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences). They will support completion of his transcription and edition of J. G. Herder’s student notes from the metaphysics lectures of Immanuel Kant, and their preparation for eventual publication as a volume in Kants gesammelte Schriften, an ongoing project of the academy.

  • Bushnell earns Ph.D. at Indiana State

    Posted March 2 - Liz Bushnell, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness, has successfully defended her dissertation for “Network Effect: How Social Networks Relate to Beliefs about Organizational Change at Private Colleges.”  She will receive her Ph.D. at Indiana State University’s spring 2018 commencement.

  • Yanez will present paper at conference in Spain

    Posted Feb. 28 - A paper that Arturo Yanez wrote during his sabbatical, “Developing History Writing Abilities in a General Education Course: Too Much, Too Soon? Genre Systems and the Contradictions of General Education,” was accepted for the XXII Congreso Internacional de Literatura y Estudios Hispánicos.  Yanez, an associate professor of modern languages at MU, will present his research at the international conference in Granada, Spain, June 27-29, 2018.
