  • ACCP recognizes Smith for work on home-study series

    Posted Nov. 13 - The American College of Clinical Pharmacy has recognized Tom Smith, associate professor of pharmacy practice and pharmacogenomics, for his work toward the publication of an important home-study series for ambulatory care pharmacists. As an Ambulatory Care Self-Assessment Program (ACSAP) author, Smith helped write learning objectives, a chapter with in-text citations, 18 or more high-level self-assessment items, and explained answers with comprehensive rationale and supporting references. 

     

  • Mohan to serve as associate editor for journal

    Posted Nov. 13 - Shekher Mohan, assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences, will serve as associate editor for an upcoming open-access journal entitled Heliyon in the sections of Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology. This journal is supported by Cell Press, a highly respected publishing group with the scientific research community.

  • Francois named Ambassador for Peace

    Posted Nov. 8 - Manchester senior Chris Francois has been named an Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation, a nonprofit organization with consultative status at the UN’s Economic and Social Council. Ambassadors for Peace organize, support or participate in a wide variety of service and relief projects such as building schools, digging wells or renovating communities in conflict-torn areas. Chris received the award because of her work with Delice Dental Health Initiative, a nonprofit that improves access to quality dental care in rural and urban Haitian communities. Chris and her mother co-founded the nonprofit in 2015. 

     

  • Watson publishes book chapter

    Posted Nov. 7 - A chapter titled “Resources for Teaching Project-Based Undergraduate Medicinal Chemistry Courses,” co-authored by Kyle Watson, assistant professor of chemistry, has been published in the book “Technology Integration in Chemistry Education and Research (TICER).” Watson is a 2010 Manchester graduate. 

     

  • Brown gets research grant from Indiana Academy of Science

    Posted Nov. 1 - The Indiana Academy of Science has funded a proposal by Dennis Brown, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, to further research the potential of a compound in treating multiple sclerosis. The proposal is for “Optimization of dithiolethione ACDT as an anti-neuroinflammatory agent.” It is a $2,468, one-year grant.

    Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disorder that is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. The immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) in the central nervous system.

     

  • Mayer presents at Concerned Philosophers for Peace Conference

    Posted Oct. 30 - Seth Mayer, assistant professor of philosophy, presented research at the 32nd Annual Concerned Philosophers for Peace Conference, Oct. 18 and 19 at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The theme of the conference was “Politics, Polarity, and Peace.”

     

  • Arseneau named Midwest Outstanding Student of the Year

    Posted Oct. 23 - Congratulations to Casey Arseneau for being named the 2020 Midwest District Outstanding Student of the Year by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE). A junior, Casey received the Indiana award in 2019 and went on to compete with outstanding students from five other Midwestern states. She is also in the running for the 2020 SHAPE America Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship.
