Posted Nov. 20 - Associate Professor Heather Schilling, director of teacher education, has joined the board of directors for the national Progressive Education Network.

It allows her a wider platform in which to prepare the next generation of teachers to “step into a public school, infuse their classrooms with progressive principles and push back against the status quo.” This also provides Manchester students with a nationwide network and broadened experiences off campus and outside Indiana. Learn more.

Posted Nov. 17 - The preliminary round of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) college counseling competition attracted a number of MU pharmacy students with 10 advancing to the next round. In the preliminary round, pharmacy students provide counseling regarding a prescription. Of the 10 MU students who will compete in the final round next spring, one student will be selected to represent Manchester in the national counseling competition.
The 10 students advancing to the next round are (in alphabetical order): Mona Awadalla, Molly Corder, Kimberly Cox, Eva Escobedo, Jonell Nwabueze, Aakash Patel, Lisa Pineros-Jacobs, Shaun Say, Megan Sexton and Sara Shahdoost.

Posted Nov. 14 - Sidhartha Ray, professor of pharmaceutical sciences and founding chair of the department, will present on “Looking at a Pharmacy Career Through a Different Lens,” Nov. 17, 2017, at Huntington University. Ray’s presentation is part of the Gerald D. Smith Lecture Series in the Natural and Mathematical Sciences.

Posted Nov. 7 - Two students planning to study abroad next spring have received awards to help. Justice Smith, who is headed to the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, has won a $500 BCA Connect to Culture Travel Grant. Justice’s entry was a video accessible on Instagram. He used the handle @yaboyjust_ice and the hashtag #BCAculture. Zoe Vorndran has received a $1,000 scholarship through BCA Study Abroad to support her semester at Maynooth University in Dublin, Ireland. 

Posted Nov. 2 - Seth Mayer’s article, "Resolving the Dilemma of Democratic Informal Politics," has been published in the philosophy journal, Social Theory and Practice. Seth is an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Posted Oct. 31 - Several students from the Physical Education Teacher Education Program in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training have received honors. Seniors Jared Bourff has been selected as the Outstanding Student of the Year by the Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Three more seniors – Hunter Gaerte, Paige Keller and Mark Osmialowski – have received three of six Jean Lee/Jeff Marvin Collegiate Scholarships.

Posted Oct. 17 – Jeff Beer, associate professor and program director for undergraduate athletic training education, has received the Professional Excellence in Athletic Training award from the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association. Jeff will be honored Nov. 5 at a luncheon in Carmel.  

Posted Oct. 9 - Mohamed Amin, assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacogenomics, will deliver the keynote lecture at the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Society annual conference in Cairo in December. Mohamed’s lecture is titled, “Pharmacy Education in the Arab World: A Prescription for Reform.”
