Subject: COVID-19 response update - March 25

Dear MU Community,

This is the first day of remote learning for North Manchester students (Fort Wayne students started Monday) and the first day of Gov. Holcomb’s Stay-At-Home order for all of Indiana.

As we settle in, I would like to offer a few reminders:

Stay-At-Home order is the law

Gov. Holcomb’s order requires Indiana residents to stay at home unless they work for an essential business or are doing an essential activity. For Manchester, only employees whose positions have been identified as essential are allowed to work on campus.

The order is mandatory and designed to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Our compliance can help save lives.

For more details about allowable travel, such as going to the grocery store, please read the Governor’s Office FAQs here.

Room and board refunds or credits

Residential students who are eligible for a refund or credit for spring semester room and board should look for a separate email from Student Financial Services. Students and their families who still have questions are encouraged to email SFS@manchester.edu.

Colleagues staying connected

ChetChats

For colleagues of both campuses, don’t forget ChetChats as a way to share positive messages, encouragement and tips for working remotely. Kourtney Rogers sent an email to you Tuesday about the three channels in Microsoft Teams that will help us foster conversation and support each other as we navigate this challenge.

If you have topic suggestions for other ChetChats, please contact Human Resources at hr@manchester.edu.

Wednesday prayer

A weekly time for colleague prayer and meditation will continue from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays through the rest of the semester. University Pastor Bekah Houff sent an email to colleagues earlier today, providing a link to join the Microsoft Teams video call.  All colleagues from either campus are welcome.

In closing, thank you to everyone for learning news of working and learning. Thank you as well to those who are finding ways – both formal and informal – to encourage each other and lift our spirits through these days. We are Manchester Strong.

Dave
