Subject: Manchester plans to open in fall 2020

Dear Students,

After careful consideration and weighing a number of options, Manchester University plans to open its campuses in fall 2020.

I want to thank you once again for your resilience, flexibility and granting grace during trying times. We are all excited about welcoming each and every one of you back to campus.

The health, safety and well-being of students and everyone in the Manchester community remain top priorities, and we are developing strategies to deal with physical distancing, cleaning, use of masks, additional technical equipment, etc., when we return to campus. We are using local, state and federal health guidelines, as well as the expertise of our own health-care experts, to set up the best practices possible.

Before you come back, we will offer online training so that we all know what the expectations are and how we can best help each other reduce risks.

The reopening will include on-campus housing and dining services at the North Manchester campus, and we anticipate having you return on a normal schedule. To see the three-phase reopening plan leading up to the first day of classes, visit www.manchester.edu/spartans-united

Like many schools, we will teach face-to-face until Thanksgiving and then end the semester remotely. Thanksgiving break will be extended so that you have additional time to travel home.

While this schedule might need to change based on what transpires with COVID-19, and state and federal guidelines for higher education, we want to provide key dates now so that you can plan accordingly.

New Fall 2020 Schedule

Sept. 2 – In-person classes begin

Nov. 23 – Thanksgiving break begins

Nov. 30 – Remote learning begins

Dec. 11 – Classes end

Dec. 18 – Semester ends

Spring 2020 and COVID-19 posed a number of challenges in a short period. I am proud of how the Manchester community has responded, and we will continue to adapt as necessary.  The summer break gives us all time to regroup and come back refreshed.

There will be more communications as our plans evolve. Please continue to monitor our Spartans United webpage: www.manchester.edu/spartans-united. Please send questions, if you have them, to health@manchester.edu.

Be well and stay Spartan Strong!
