Dear Spartans,

We miss having our students on campus with us and look forward to being together. During the COVID-19 pandemic, however, being together calls us to be especially respectful of one another’s health and safety.

To that end, Manchester University has decided that students, faculty, staff and visitors must wear cloth face masks on campus to protect the health of our community (a few exceptions will apply, such as when residential students are in their rooms with their roommates).

Wearing cloth masks during the pandemic helps protect your health and the health of people around you. Wearing a mask helps slow the spread of COVID-19 and is a gesture of respect for others.

The more we can do to stop the spread of COVID-19, the more likely we are to be together as a community.

You are welcome to wear face masks of your choosing, whether purchased or homemade. In addition, the University has purchased enough cloth masks for all students and colleagues to receive one, and they will be distributed as follows:

Mask Distribution

North Manchester Residential Students

At check-in

North Manchester Commuter Students

Chinworth 103

Fort Wayne Students

At front desk or at student orientation

In the event that you lose a face mask or forget to bring one to campus for the day, disposable masks will be available in the Center for Health and Sports Medicine on the North Manchester campus and in the Office of Student Affairs on the Fort Wayne campus.

Masks should be laundered frequently and it will be everyone’s individual responsibility to clean them. Please do not launder masks for others. Soiled masks may trap live virus or other contagious germs, which could be a health hazard.

In the coming weeks, we will schedule a number of Zoom meetings during which you can ask questions about face masks and Manchester’s larger plans to reopen campus.

Thanks,

Abby
