Frequently Asked Questions

As a new college student, you probably have so many questions about dorms, cars on campus, meal plans - and so much more! Please see the list below to see a list of questions that new students frequently ask.

  • Can students arrive early?
    • Students must wait until their scheduled arrival date. Those with certain circumstances (out of state, for example) should contact Residential Life at 260-982-5052.
  • Can students who arrive before classes start eating in the Jo Young Switzer Center?
    • Those on campus for specific reasons will be on lists from coaches or other MU staff indicating their approval. They will be able to eat with a valid student ID card. In some instances, students may be pre-approved to eat meals but will need to check with Residential Life, located on the second floor of Calvin Ulrey or at 260-982-5052.
  • Where do new students go when first arriving on campus for Welcome Week?
    • Students that will be living on-campus should report to Residence Halls. For those living off-campus, the Commuter Orientation will be held the Saturday before the first day of classes.
  • Are guest rooms available for parents?  Who do they contact?
    • Rooms are available in Oakwood and Helman, but there is a very limited number of rooms available. Each room accommodates a max of two people. Parents should contact Conference Services at 260-982-5551 for more information.
  • Where do students get parking stickers for their cars?
    • Auto registration forms are available on ChetNet. Students will have to get parking stickers once they are on campus.
  • Who do students call with questions about connecting technology in their residence hall rooms?
    • Questions about technology should be directed to the ITS Help Desk at 260-982-5454.
  • Where do students pick up packages?
    • Students who receive packages will get an email notification and can pick them up at the mail desk with their valid student ID in the Campus Store in the Jo Young Switzer Center.
  • Where do students go to get verification of enrollment (for insurance purposes, etc.)?
    • Enrollment verification and financial aid is handled by the One Stop Student Service Center.

  • Where do students find information on campus jobs?
    • They should start with Spartan Jobs on the MU website. Students will be able to access this link after their orientation day. They can also go to the Office of Human Resources.
  •  Where can students ask questions about financial aid?
    • Student Financial Services is located in Chinworth 104. The staff is available to answer questions regarding your financial aid and billing. Students can log into Spartan Self Service on Chetnet for 24/7 access to financial aid and student account information.
